Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 20 – Cambodian Minister of Post and Telecommunications Chea Vandeth said that Cambodian content creators who produce quality content and attract a large audience on TikTok will now have the opportunity to earn money. This presents a new avenue for TikTok to support content creators in Cambodia.

This statement was made at the opening ceremony of a promotional seminar on online safety and TikTok’s guidelines held at the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications on 19 March 2025.

The minister noted that TikTok is a globally recognised social media platform that has gained popularity for its short-form video content, allowing users to create and share videos with a broad audience.

“By 2025, TikTok will have approximately 1.93 billion users worldwide, with around 165 million in Southeast Asia. In Cambodia alone, we expect to have approximately 10 million users,” the minister added.

On the occasion, Minister Chea Vandeth urged content creators to prioritise high-quality content that serves society, protects the environment, uplifts humanity, and contributes to the economy—all while keeping audiences engaged. He cautioned against producing content that spreads fear, harms the environment, or promotes violence, warning that such material can negatively affect viewers and may risk demonetisation.
