Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet instructed ministries and institutions to compile official statistics, while the Royal Government will soon implement a digital system to enhance the management and transparency of officials.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Mar. 20) during the closing ceremony of 2024 Ministry of Civil Service annual meeting at Premier Centre Sen Sok in Phnom Penh.

At the ceremony, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that failing to effectively manage civil servant data would inevitably lead to significant challenges.

Samdech Thipadei stated, "I urge for a clear and accurate official census. I don't recall exactly 10 years ago, but we stopped updating the official count. Currently, some officials are listed in one ministry, but are actually working elsewhere. It’s essential to conduct an official census and establish a clear digital system."

On this occasion, the premier underlined that each ministry, institution, and sub-national official must internally prepare to conduct a clear and accurate official census of their personnel. He also instructed provincial governors to have a precise count of officials in their provinces, including the number of teachers in schools and doctors in hospitals. He underscored the importance of strictly adhering to the instructions for transferring officials and evaluating their ability to apply their skills effectively.
