Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the Royal Government of Cambodia must be bold in making reforms, adjustments, and improvements to enhance efficiency and support the private sector in investing quickly, affordably, and effectively.
The premier spoke on Thursday (Mar. 20) during the closing ceremony of 2024 Ministry of Civil Service annual meeting at Premier Centre Sen Sok in Phnom Penh.
Samdech Thipadei underscored, “Only when we dare to implement necessary reforms and adjustments to improve efficiency can we help the private sector invest locally in a faster, cheaper, and more effective manner, ultimately attracting more investment.”
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei questioned how Cambodia could remain economically competitive if the private sector requires government support, yet the state remains inefficient, with cumbersome and costly processes.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet also underlined the importance of continuous reforms to enhance efficiency, accountability, and responsibility within government institutions.
Regarding service delivery in ministries and institutions, the premier urged authorities to find ways to reduce costs, particularly service fees, ensuring that while improvements are made, the quality of services does not decline.
Currently, Cambodia offers more than 3,000 state services.
