Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 21 – Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen announced the construction of a new palace for the Senate, enabling it to host various programmes without the need to borrow the Peace Palace.

Samdech Techo presided over a ceremony conferring the five-star general rank on former Defence Minister Tea Banh and former Minister of Inspection Men Sam An on Friday (Mar. 21).

He further stated that while the new Senate palace will not be as large as the Peace Palace, it is important to have a dedicated space. He has entrusted Minister Prak Sokhonn with the responsibility of chairing the committee to monitor the construction.

On the occasion, Samdech Techo added that once the construction is completed next year, future events of this nature will no longer require the use of the Peace Palace, as the Senate will have its own venue.
