Kandal (FN), Mar. 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed the Royal Government’s commitment to improving the quality of education at all levels, aligning with the aspirations of the citizens.

The premier spoke on Friday (Mar. 21) at the inauguration of a school building and various achievements at Hun Sen Sereipheap High School, Takhmao City, Kandal Province.

“We are progressing step by step according to our capacity, but our direction remains clear: as our capabilities grow, we will enhance secondary and primary education. When I talk about primary education, I refer to the full 12-year cycle, from primary school to Grade 12,” the premier underscored.

According to Samdech Thipadei, there are currently 11 new-generation schools, which serve as a successful model where the Royal Government and the community collaborate to enhance students’ learning experiences. He added that the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport is currently piloting several programmes to increase investment in after-school teaching and additional learning hours.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei highlighted that for these 11 new-generation schools, the government is allocating more than USD 1 million per school to improve the quality of education. He stressed that modernisation is not just about constructing school buildings but also about upgrading learning materials and the overall learning environment.

The prime minister further stated that education must be strengthened from the elementary level, including the integration of technology. He urged continued efforts to enhance general knowledge education, noting that a strong foundation in the 12 years of general education represents a valuable investment in higher education.
