Takeo (FN), Mar. 22 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that Takeo Province is a region where significant achievements have been made in Buddhism, and that Choun Kakada, who recently left the monkhood, has contributed many works to Buddhism in the area.

Choun Kakada is a prominent Cambodian Buddhist figure known for his engaging Dharma talks and contributions to Buddhism, particularly in Takeo Province.

The premier spoke on Saturday (Mar. 22) at the opening ceremony of the 9th River Festival in Takeo province.

Samdech Thipadei explained the recent decision to leave the monkhood of Choun Kakada, clarifying that it was not related to government influence, but was entirely his personal decision. He also addressed the accusations from a small group that falsely claimed the government played a role in his departure. Given Choun Kakada's extensive education and achievements in Buddhism, the government plans to appoint him as the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Cult, where he can continue his work in supporting both society and religion.

Samdech Thipadei further added, “Choun Kakada will be prepared for his new role due to his extensive knowledge, which will be valuable in this field. The Royal Government needs individuals with his abilities, and he has expressed a desire to continue contributing to the Buddhist sector. We plan to prepare him as the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Cult, where he can continue to support the Buddhist community. […] We will continue to offer him opportunities to contribute to Buddhism, which forms the foundation of our national society.”

On the occasion Samdech Thipadei called on Buddhists and supporters of Choun Kakada not to harbour any misunderstandings about the government's role in his departure.
