Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 2 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet outlined four key recommendations for relevant stakeholders. These recommendations aim to enhance production, processing, and market expansion for Cambodian goods, thereby fostering economic growth and improving local producers' livelihoods.
The premier wrote a message on Wednesday (Apr. 2) to celebrate the 8th National Day for the Promotion of the Use of Khmer Products on 9 April 2025.
These key recommendations include:
1. All relevant ministries and institutions must continue to support and promote the cultivation, livestock farming, production, processing, and development of various products by families, communities, and producer groups. These efforts should encourage creativity and innovation, particularly in transforming raw agricultural products into food, handicrafts, and consumer goods for both domestic and international markets. This initiative aims to enhance the livelihoods of all Cambodians.
2. The National Committee for One Village, One Product (OVOP) Movement, along with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and other relevant institutions, must continue to collaborate effectively to foster the development of local products and expand market access for producers.
3. The OVOP Committees in the capital and provinces must strengthen their cooperation with the National Committee to integrate local potential products into the OVOP framework. Additionally, they should expand the OVOP network and provide timely and effective interventions to address challenges faced by local producers.
4. The National Committee for OVOP Movement should continue working with the Ministry of Commerce, local OVOP committees, and provincial authorities to organise events that showcase and promote Khmer products. These events should be held in high-traffic commercial areas to enhance market visibility and consumer demand for Cambodian products.
At the same time, Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his appreciation for the dedicated efforts of the National Committee for OVOP Movement, relevant ministries, institutions, and local committees. He commended their efforts in promoting Cambodian products, addressing challenges, and driving the sustainable development of local industries.
