Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 2 – In the first three months of 2025, Cambodia approved 172 investment projects, with Chinese investors leading the way, accounting for nearly 80 per cent of the total projects, according to Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodia Investment Board of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).
Chea Vuthy spoke on 31 March 2025 during the inauguration ceremony of the specialised equipment testing centre of Te Zhong Shebei Jiance Yanjiu Yuan Co (Cambodia) in Phnom Penh.
Chea Vuthy underscored, "In just three months, the CDC approved approximately 172 investment projects—surpassing the total number of projects approved in 2021, which stood at only 169. Notably, Chinese investment companies accounted for nearly 80 per cent of these projects this year."
He encouraged investors to share their positive experiences and successes in Cambodia, helping to attract more investments, particularly from China. Over the past decade, Chinese investors have consistently ranked first or second in Cambodia. In 2024 alone, Chinese investment accounted for approximately 50 per cent of the total approved projects.
At the same time, he congratulated and expressed gratitude to Te Zhong Shebei Jiance Yanjiu Yuan Co (Cambodia) for investing in a specialised equipment testing centre in Cambodia. The centre will provide essential inspection services for boilers, pressure vessels, elevators, lifting machinery, factory cranes, amusement rides, and cable cars—ensuring compliance with international safety standards. He underlined that the establishment of this centre is a new milestone for Cambodia, contributing to public safety and the well-being of citizens who rely on such equipment.
Additionally, he urged companies investing in Cambodia to bring the latest technologies, provide training to Cambodian employees, and explore opportunities for expansion. He reaffirmed that the CDC will continue its efforts to provide comprehensive services and support to ensure the sustainable growth of businesses operating in Cambodia.
Sat Samy, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), acknowledged that over the past decade, Te Zhong Shebei Jiance Yanjiu Yuan Co (Cambodia) has made significant contributions to Cambodia’s industrial sector, playing a key role in advancing technology and innovation in the country.
He encouraged the company to continue cooperating with the Royal Government and to prepare for further investment in Cambodia.
