Sihanoukville (FN), Apr. 5 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the inauguration of the modernisation achievements and the Cambodia-China Joint Logistics and Training Centre confirms that the development at the Ream naval base are transparent and without secrecy.

The premier spoke on Saturday (Apr. 5) at the inauguration of Ream naval base and Cambodia-China Joint Logistics and Training Centre in Sihanoukville.

“Today marks the official inauguration. If we intended to hide something, there would be no need for a ceremony. If secrecy were the goal, we would simply build a fence. But as we can all see, we are hosting an official inauguration,” the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei added that the purpose of the ceremony was to reassure both the public and international community that Cambodia has nothing to hide.

At the same time, the premier called on the people to trust the Royal Government, affirming that it would never take any action that violates the national constitution.

It is worth noting that the Ream Naval Base was established in 1954 following Cambodia’s independence from French colonial rule. On 13 February 2024, Samdech Thipadei decided to formally rename it as “Ream Naval Base.”

The base serves as a key facility for managing security in Cambodia’s maritime domain.
