Sihanoukville (FN), Apr. 5 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet directed the Ministry of National Defence to prioritise reforms, training, education, and the development of human resources to enhance the effectiveness and quality of the national defence sector.

The premier spoke on Saturday (Apr. 5) at the inauguration of Ream naval base and Cambodia-China Joint Logistics and Training Centre in Sihanoukville.

Samdech Thipadei affirmed that the Navy must remain vigilant in training efforts and consistently conduct patrols in Cambodian waters and along coastal islands.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, “The Ministry of National Defence must focus on reforming the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, building and developing human resources, materials, and logistics to better serve the national defence sector. This includes strengthening training and educational programs to develop military personnel both in terms of quantity and quality.”

The premier further urged the Ministry to manage the resources and assets of the institution, as well as the assistance from friendly nations, in an efficient, stable, and effective manner.

Samdech Thipadei added that all resources—including technical equipment, military forces, supplies, and food—should be utilised, managed, and maintained based on actual needs and technical specifications. Proper skill application and sustainable management are essential to ensuring adequacy and readiness to meet the needs of the national defence sector.
