Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 7 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet directed the Phnom Penh administration to allocate approximately 70 hectares of land in the Kob Srov dam for a future public garden, providing citizens with a space for recreation and relaxation.
The premier spoke on Monday (Apr. 7) at the inauguration of the USD 37 million Morodok Techo flyover in Phnom Penh.
Samdech Thipadei stated that in line with plans to develop public parks, Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng has been planting thousands of trees in preparation for a large public park in the capital. He emphasized that major cities must have public green spaces for the people, adding that beyond Phnom Penh, Kep province is currently undertaking coastal sand filling to enhance its landscape and attract more national and international tourists.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet praised provincial and capital administrations for expanding public parks, highlighting their importance for public leisure. He encouraged cities to continue competing in development to drive prosperity.
He also directed the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction—along with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration—to enhance the city's road system, improving traffic flow and reducing congestion.
