Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 7 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on all citizens to exercise extreme caution during the dry season, particularly during the upcoming Khmer New Year, to prevent fires. He urged the public to take extra care with electrical appliances and devices that could pose a fire risk before leaving their homes.
The premier spoke on Monday (Apr. 7) at the inauguration of the USD 37 million Morodok Techo flyover in Phnom Penh.
Samdech Thipadei also instructed the provincial police, fire services, army, capital administration, the 70th Brigade, and other units equipped with water tankers to remain on standby for rapid response in case of emergencies.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stressed that prevention is far more effective than responding after a fire has already broken out. He noted that fires can cause not only property damage but also loss of life and can impact entire communities.
