Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 9 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet advised the special committees and the administrations of the four northeastern provinces to create favourable conditions and remove all barriers to facilitate investment, following the "Keep the Old, Grow the New" approach.

The premier spoke on Wednesday (Apr. 9) at the official launching of the “Special Programme to Promote Investment in the Four Northeastern Province of Cambodia 2025-2028” at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

“I ask that this committee, while preparing, align its work with the procedural revisions of the four provinces. Provincial governors should take the lead in preparing these procedures because our provinces are the most remote. We have established this committee to assist, but if you neither walk nor run, no one will be able to help you,” the premier underscored.

The premier continued that the governors and provincial administrations of the four provinces must work closely with the provincial mechanism to ensure all decisions are delegated to the special committee, so they are recognised as equivalent to national-level decisions and implemented effectively.

On the occasion Samdech Thipadei called for continued protection of existing investments to build investor confidence, urging authorities to act as “troubleshooters, not troublemakers.” This investor confidence, he noted, would naturally serve as word-of-mouth promotion among the wider business community.

The premier also instructed the working group to approach its tasks with a spirit of teamwork, following the "Dynamics of Stakeholder System" approach, to ensure the successful implementation of the measures in the special investment promotion programme, yielding the desired and tangible results.

Additionally, the region’s abundant natural resources—such as its cool climate, clean air, diverse natural resources, forests, and wildlife sanctuaries—have made the four provinces an area with considerable potential for nature and ecotourism. This includes Unique Identity Tourism, which refers to cultural, natural, and historical tourism products unique to the northeastern provinces and regions of Cambodia.
