Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 14 – The Investigation and Crime Suppression Command of the Ministry of Interior would like to inform both the national and international public that, in accordance with the directives of Cambodian Minister of Interior Sar Sokha as well as under the direct leadership of the General Commissioner of Cambodia National Police Sar Thet, the Oddar Meanchey Provincial Police, in coordination with the General Department of Immigration, will facilitate the repatriation of 26 Filipino nationals.

These individuals, who were employed at a casino in Oddar Meanchey Province, will be returned to the Philippines via a Philippine Airlines flight departing from Phnom Penh, under the supervision of their respective employers.

"The decision to deport these 26 individuals is based on an official request submitted by the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the Kingdom of Cambodia," according to the press release seen by Fresh News on Monday (Apr. 14).

"These Filipino citizens entered Cambodia through legal channels in pursuit of employment opportunities. There is no evidence to suggest that they were victims of human trafficking, nor have they been subjected to threats or abuse by their employers. The individuals are free, in good health, and have been receiving regular wages.

Despite the absence of any danger or coercion, and contrary to claims made by other parties, Cambodian authorities have agreed to carry out the deportation in compliance with the request of the Philippine Embassy.

The Cambodian authorities reaffirm their commitment to cooperating with all legitimate and responsibly conducted international requests. Moreover, it is earnestly hoped that upon their return to the Philippines, the aforementioned individuals will not disseminate inaccurate or misleading information that could create public misunderstanding or negatively impact the reputation of the Kingdom of Cambodia.”
