Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 17 – Below is full arrival statement of Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, during his arrival in Cambodia.

“At the invitation of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, I am delighted to pay another state visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia. As I arrive, the country is celebrating the Khmer New Year. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, I extend best New Year wishes to the brotherly government and people of Cambodia.

Cambodia has a time-honored civilization. The ingenious and industrious Cambodian people created the splendid Khmer civilization and made important contributions to the progress of humanity. In recent years, with the vigorous implementation of the Pentagonal Strategy, Cambodia has seen rapid economic growth and continued improvement in livelihood. I am confident that with the blessing of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni and under the leadership of the government headed by Prime Minister Hun Manet, the Cambodian people will make even greater achievements in national development.

The relationship between China and Cambodia, forged and carefully nurtured by successive generations of leaders from both sides, has stood the test of the changing international environment and remained rock-solid as ever. China and Cambodia took the lead in building a community with a shared future at the bilateral level, and in carrying out Belt and Road cooperation. Our two countries have supported each other in maintaining national stability and promoting development and prosperity, and worked side by side to stand up for fairness and justice in international affairs. We have set a fine example of fostering a new type of international relations and contributed to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Cambodia is a priority in China’s neighborhood diplomacy. China will unswervingly support Cambodia in upholding strategic autonomy and in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions. I look forward to meeting with Their Majesties King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet to renew our friendship and chart the course for future development. We will further enrich China-Cambodia Diamond Hexagon cooperation, work together to take mutual political trust to a higher level, advance mutually beneficial cooperation of higher quality, ensure greater security, carry out more frequent people-to-people exchanges, and strengthen strategic coordination of higher standards, to bring more benefits to our people and contribute more positive energy to peace and stability of the region and the world.”
