Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 23 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and his Thai counterpart Paetongtarn Shinawatra agreed to enhance military cooperation, particularly among units stationed along the shared border.

The premier spoke on Wednesday (Apr. 23) during a joint statement with his Thai counterpart Paetongtarn Shinawatra at the Peace Palace.

In the security sector, both kingdoms reaffirmed their commitment to existing cooperation mechanisms, including the sharing of information to combat transnational crime, technology-related fraud, disinformation, human trafficking, and the smuggling of illegal goods.

“Cambodia would like to affirm the importance of building a border with peace, stability, and prosperity. We agreed to strengthen military cooperation, especially among border units,” the premier underscored.

Taking this occasion, both leaders also committed to further enhancing the strategic partnership between Cambodia and Thailand, with the aim of fostering growth, well-being, and shared prosperity for both nations and their peoples.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra stated that the Royal Government of Thailand pledged to promote closer military cooperation with Cambodia at all levels in order to maintain peace and stability along the border.

She also expressed her gratitude to Samdech Thipadei for the strong collaboration between the two countries’ forces in tackling online fraud, adding that both sides will continue efforts to eradicate criminal networks operating along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
