Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 23 – The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) would like to inform all producers and exporters who have been exporting goods to the US market that Cambodia has strictly adhered to international trade rules, obligations, and commitments undertaken upon its accession to the World Trade Organization, in which Cambodia prepared and promulgated the Law on Rules of Origin on 5 July 2023. This law aims to promote and facilitate trade benefiting from trade preferences and the implementation of non-preferential rules as well as preventing frauds of origin of goods.
"To safeguard the interests of producers and exporters in Cambodia, the MoC and related ministries and institutions are in the process of preparing additional special procedure for exporting goods to the US, market by strengthening the mechanism for monitoring the use of local content and value-add to ensure transparency and compliance with the provisions of the Law on Rules of Origin and the US's rules of origin. The additional special procedure will be announced in the near future," according to the announcement seen by Fresh News on Wednesday (Apr. 23).
"In this regard, all producers and exporters to the US market are urged to take due note of this information and to implement it with the utmost diligence."
