Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 23 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra agreed to continue strengthening and expanding their strategic partnership.

The agreement was reached on Wednesday (Apr. 23) during a bilateral meeting between Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who is leading a high-level delegation on an official visit to Cambodia.

Samdech Thipadei warmly welcomed Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and her delegation on their official visit to Cambodia. He stated that her presence marks a significant step in promoting bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, rooted in their long-standing friendship and strategic partnership.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn expressed her sincere gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to her and the delegation. She also expressed her pleasure in leading the delegation on this visit, aimed at further reinforcing the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Thailand.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive progress made in bilateral relations and cooperation across all sectors, recognising the two countries as good neighbors and strategic partners. With 2025 marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Thailand, the two prime ministers agreed to further strengthen and expand their strategic partnership.

The two sides also expressed satisfaction with the official opening of the Cambodian Consulate General in Songkhla Province and the Thai Consulate General in Siem Reap Province, as well as the upcoming official inauguration of the Cambodia-Thailand Friendship Bridge (Stung Bot-Ban Nong Ian).

Samdech Thipadei extended his gratitude to the Thai side for their continued care and support for Cambodian workers in Thailand, including the recent waiver of re-entry permit fees for workers returning home during the traditional New Year. He also thanked Thai investors and entrepreneurs for their confidence in Cambodia’s investment environment. In return, Prime Minister Paetongtarn expressed appreciation to the Royal Government of Cambodia for its ongoing support for Thai investors operating in the Kingdom.

During the meeting, both leaders discussed ways to further enhance cooperation in key areas including politics, economy, trade and investment, energy, national security and defense, culture, tourism, education, people-to-people exchanges, transportation connectivity, and the development of Complementary Special Economic Zones (SEZs) along the border.

They also exchanged views on regional and ASEAN-related issues, including the promotion of Timor-Leste’s full ASEAN membership in 2025 and ASEAN’s continued role in supporting Myanmar.
