(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that in the first three months of 2025, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) registered a total of 172 investment projects with a combined investment capital of USD 2.5 billion, capable of creating approximately 120,000 jobs. Among these were six production expansion projects.
In addition, the premier stated that among the 45,255 factories and enterprises, the number of workers and employees had risen from approximately 1.81 million to 1.85 million.
Responding to unfounded claims from certain groups suggesting that there is no new investment activity in Cambodia, despite frequent government announcements of project growth, the premier said, “Don’t sit back and shout — come down and see for yourself.”
The premier spoke on Sunday (Apr. 27) during his meeting with leaders of Informal Economic Associations at OCIC, Phnom Penh.
The premier stated, “Some claim they see no new investment because they haven't visited the sites — they only look at the sky. In reality, new factories are breaking ground across the country, and I’ve personally inaugurated several. Growth is real and verifiable. If you doubt it, take a flight and let Minister Heng Sour show you firsthand.”
It should be noted that in the first three months of 2025, the CDC approved 172 investment projects, with Chinese companies ranking first among investors in Cambodia, accounting for nearly 80% of total investment.
Of the total projects, 99 are located outside special economic zones, while 73 are situated within special economic zones.
Compared to the same period in 2024, the registration of investment in 2025 increased by 66 projects, while total investment capital rose by over USD 305 million, equivalent to approximately 14%.
