(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed that female workers are a top priority for the government, noting that to date, the government has spent approximately 330 billion riels to support workers who give birth to children up to the age of two.

The premier spoke on Sunday (Apr. 27) during his meeting with leaders of Informal Economic Associations at OCIC, Phnom Penh.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, “The government continues to strengthen and expand the cash subsidy program for pregnant workers, providing support before childbirth and up to two years after childbirth. Under this program, mothers receive 80,000 riels 14 times, and 800,000 riels during childbirth, while mothers of twins receive 1.2 million riels.”

Prime Minister Hun Manet underlined that female workers are a key focus of the Royal Government’s efforts, aiming to ensure that they have access to comprehensive benefits and support, considering the well-being of both children and mothers, as well as their families.

The premier also confirmed that the cash subsidy program extends to women who are incarcerated, and that the government will continue to gradually expand this support based on the availability of the national budget.

Additionally, Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted that in the 19 months since the formation of the seventh-mandate Royal Government, the Ministry has registered an additional 1.2 million members with the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), bringing the total number of NSSF members to over 3 million as of March 2025. He added that the new policy of issuing NSSF cards to family members of NSSF members is part of the government’s effort to extend greater benefits to workers’ and employees’ families.
