(Takeo): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on citizens to help maintain roads for long-term use and to adhere traffic laws.
The premier spoke on Tuesday (Apr. 29) at the inauguration ceremony for the official use of National Roads No. 31, No. 33, and No. 41, held in Takeo Province.
Samdech Thipadei said that the Royal Government will continue to construct more and expand existing ones to better serve the lives of citizens nationwide. However, the premier urged all road users including passengers, car drivers, motorcyclists, and pedestrians, to take care of the infrastructure.
The premier also called on citizens who raise livestock to exercise caution when crossing roads and to strictly observe traffic laws, including not exceeding speed limits, in order to prevent traffic accidents, which have caused more deaths and injuries than landmines.
Samdech Thipadei also called on the private sector and business community to capitalise on the potential of these roads, both now and in the future.
It is noteworthy that National Roads No. 41, No. 31, and No. 33, inaugurated today, underwent quality improvement and continuous rehabilitation beginning in late December 2022 under the leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
These three national roads serve as crucial economic arteries, facilitating the travel of citizens and the transport of goods from Phnom Penh and the northwestern provinces to the southwestern coastal regions.
