(Takeo): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet likened Cambodia’s economic network to the human body’s blood vessels, which must circulate efficiently to every cell to ensure the body’s overall strength and vitality.
The premier spoke on Tuesday (Apr. 29) at the inauguration ceremony for the official use of National Roads No. 31, No. 33, and No. 41, held in Takeo Province.
Samdech Thipadei underlined that for Cambodia’s economic development to thrive, growth must not be concentrated solely in Phnom Penh, but must extend to all provinces nationwide.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei added that infrastructure development in Cambodia is aimed at connecting potential areas across the country, directly benefiting citizens in every region. The three newly inaugurated roads are part of an expanding network of interconnected infrastructure in the southwestern provinces.
Samdech Thipadei underscored, “Building this infrastructure to connect key areas is like strengthening our body. We can’t have a healthy face if our arms and legs are withered. Blood must flow everywhere for us to be strong. Our country is the same, every province, city, district, commune, village, every ‘cell’ must be developed for the country to grow, not just Phnom Penh.”
Cambodia’s growing infrastructure network, along with the Royal Government’s preferential policies, has transformed the country into an attractive destination for investment and tourism. Samdech Thipadei highlighted that the primary beneficiaries of these developments are the citizens living in the areas directly impacted by infrastructure expansion. This approach reflects the Royal Government’s commitment to improving the living standards of the Cambodian people.
At the same time, the premier also underlined that the newly completed road projects will facilitate daily travel and transportation for citizens, part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the national transport infrastructure and enhance connectivity between regions across the country.
Prime Minister Hun Manet instructed the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, other relevant ministries and institutions, as well as local authorities at all levels, to continue working collaboratively and intensifying their efforts in maintaining and developing roads and bridges. He stressed that expanding the communication network, both within Cambodia and with neighbouring countries, must be done with a focus on long-term quality, sustainability, and efficiency.
