(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that integrity, honesty, and responsibility are essential elements that enable media institutions to maintain strong and lasting public trust.

The premier spoke on Saturday (May 3) during the 7th gathering and solidarity dining with journalists at CCIC.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, “Today, I want to emphasise three key factors that allow media outlets to earn and sustain public confidence including integrity, honesty, and responsibility. These three values ensure longevity. With them, you can earn lasting support. Believe me, without them, no media outlet can survive.”

Prime Minister Hun Manet further underlined that when a media outlet lacks integrity, its content becomes untrustworthy. He noted that journalists are not political propagandists, and if journalism is to be regarded as a profession, it must be grounded in integrity. When integrity is present, people will naturally turn to that outlet first because it is trusted.

On the occasion, the premier added that while nothing in this world is perfect, it is important to have a clear direction and strive for improvement. That’s our goal, to continually reduce our flaws and shortcomings in the pursuit of better standards.
