(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet urged the public to actively participate in sports and physical exercise to improve their overall health. He also called on the authorities to enhance public parks to better support citizens’ fitness activities.
The premier spoke on Monday (May 5) during the official launch of the National Cancer Control Plan 2025-2030 at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.
“Now I see that our people are engaging more in sports, and with increased physical activity comes better health. This effort deserves continued encouragement—not only for cancer prevention but also because sport brings a wide range of benefits. Health problems place a heavy burden on governments around the world,” the premier underscored.
Samdech Thipadei noted that public parks in Phnom Penh and the provinces have seen notable improvements, allowing more citizens to exercise in cleaner, safer, and more organised environments.
On this occasion, the premier expressed appreciation to all provincial and municipal administrations and urged them to continue enhancing public parks, particularly focusing on maintaining security, safety, and public order.
