(Timor-Leste): After concluding an official visit to the Republic of Indonesia, Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen and high-level delegation arrived Timor-Leste on Wednesday (May 7) at the invitation of José Ramos-Horta, President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste from 7-9 May 2025.
During the official visit to Timor-Leste, Samdech Techo will hold separate meetings with José Ramos-Horta, President of Timor-Leste; Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, Prime Minister; and Maria Fernanda Lay, Speaker of the National Parliament.
On this occasion, he will also address a special session of the Timor-Leste National Parliament and deliver a keynote speech entitled “The Lessons of Hun Sen: From Genocide and Poverty to Freedom and Prosperity” at the Presidential Palace, attended by Members of Parliament, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, students, and representatives of civil society in Timor-Leste.
It is noteworthy that, as a gesture of appreciation and in recognition of Samdech Techo’s significant contributions over more than two decades in supporting Timor-Leste—particularly in its pursuit of full ASEAN membership—the President of Timor-Leste will bestow upon him the Grand Collar of the Order of Timor-Leste, the nation’s highest honour and a distinguished tribute from the Timorese side.
