(Phnom Penh): Lim Cheavutha, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fresh News media and CoolApp messaging app, along with Ma Yarith, Senior Advisor at Fresh News, granted an interview to a delegation from the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, People's Republic of China, on Thursday morning (May 8).

The delegation, led by Zhao Shulan, Director of the Cambodia Research Centre, was conducting a study on "Media Cooperation between Cambodia and China."

Zhao Shulan informed Fresh News CEO that her research institution was established in the 1980s and has since carried out multiple research studies on Cambodia. In 2021, the institution founded the "Cambodia Research Centre," which enjoys strong trust and support from both the Chinese central government and the Yunnan provincial administration. She noted that the institution conducts annual research on Cambodia across various topics.

On the occasion, CEO Lim Cheavutha extended a warm welcome to Zhao Shulan and her delegation upon their visit to Fresh News headquarter. He shared the history of Fresh News' founding, noting that the agency has now been operating for 11 years and has expanded from a team of just over 10 staff to more than 150 personnel, making it one of Cambodia’s leading news networks.

He highlighted the close cooperation between Fresh News and major Chinese media institutions, including Xinhua News Agency and CGTN. Most recently, during the state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Cambodia, Fresh News signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China Media Group (CMG), one of China’s largest media organizations.

During the meeting, both Lim Cheavutha and Ma Yarith emphasized the progress and significance of media cooperation between Cambodia and China over the past five years. They provided insightful perspectives in response to questions from the Yunnan Academy delegation, fostering a friendly and engaging atmosphere.

For her part, Zhao Shulan expressed her sincere gratitude to Fresh News CEO Lim Cheavutha and Senior Advisor Ma Yarith for granting this meaningful and valuable interview, which contributes significantly to research on Cambodia-China media cooperation. She expressed hope for continued collaboration in the future.
