(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on citizens to actively promote positivity to counter negative influences that breach moral boundaries in society. He stressed that the Royal Government prefers for the public to share constructive and educational messages, rather than relying solely on law enforcement to address every ethical violation.
The premier spoke on Friday (May 9) during the inauguration of the Techo Santepheap Dormitory and other achievements at Svay Pope Pagoda, Phnom Penh.
“People often ask why some young individuals in our society appear to behave recklessly—resorting to violence so readily. But should we give up on Cambodian youth? Certainly not. There are still many inspiring examples of individuals using Facebook to share meaningful experiences, positive messages, and educational content — including contributions from monks,” the premier underscored.
According to Samdech Thipadei, the Cambodian government encourages the public to utilise social media platforms to disseminate uplifting and educational content that can counteract immoral or unethical material, rather than depending on legal intervention to address such issues.
In this context, the premier underlined the importance of every citizen upholding proper conduct, ethics, and moral values in order to become a positive influence in society. Samdech Thipadei also urged parents, siblings, and friends to take shared responsibility in promoting mutual education. He added that this approach represents a sustainable foundation for building a peaceful and harmonious society.
