(Phnom Penh): Emirates, a world-class airline, continues to play a vital role in connecting Cambodia to the global community. The airline has identified Cambodia as an attractive destination for both tourism and business.
Emirates highlighted that from May until the end of 2024, it has transported over 20,000 passengers and thousands of tons of cargo from Phnom Penh to various international destinations through its consistent daily flights to Dubai.
Departing from Phnom Penh, Emirates’ modern Boeing 777-300ER aircraft first stops in Singapore before continuing to Dubai International Airport, one of the world’s busiest travel hubs. Cambodian travellers benefit from shorter transit times and seamless access to key regions across Europe, the Middle East, North America, and Africa, thanks to Emirates’ vast global network. The airline also offers a premium travel experience with exquisite cuisine, a wide range of in-flight entertainment, exceptional service, and warm hospitality.
In addition to the Phnom Penh–Dubai route, Emirates recently announced that starting this June, it will expand its operations to include flights from Dubai to Siem Reap via Bangkok. The airline sees Siem Reap as a promising and vibrant leisure destination, aiming to connect both business and tourism travellers to this culturally rich city. Cambodia’s renowned heritage, ancient temples, and unique landscapes continue to attract international interest, fuelling growth in the tourism sector.
With the new Siem Reap route, Emirates expects to bring more tourists to Cambodia through its extensive global network, further boosting tourism and creating more opportunities for trade. This expansion also enhances travel connectivity for Cambodians flying to Dubai and beyond.
Emirates underlined that with the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Cambodia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), trade and investment cooperation will flourish. Its Boeing 777 flights to Phnom Penh (PNH) and Siem Reap (SAI) are capable of carrying tons of cargo weekly, supporting local businesses and expanding market access for Cambodian enterprises worldwide.
The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) and Cambodia’s private sector have also recognised Emirates as a key partner in promoting tourism, trade, and investment in the country.
Sin Chansereyvutha is the Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA), underscored, “Emirates has played a crucial role in promoting Cambodia’s cultural heritage, arts, and natural resources internationally. Its flight connections not only help increase tourist arrivals but also enhance trade, international investment, and people-to-people exchanges.”
Chhay Sivlin, President of Cambodia Association of Travel Agents (CATA), stated, “I applaud and appreciate Emirates Airlines’ commitment to recognising the potential of Cambodia’s tourism sector and expanding its services here. Emirates’ growing presence is a vital force in the recovery and development of our tourism industry, now and into the future. We strongly believe their operations will bring substantial benefits to Cambodia’s economy and strengthen our global reputation.”
It should be noted that Emirates operates flights to more than 140 destinations across 80 countries and regions. In 2024, the airline reported estimated revenue of USD 33 billion and carried approximately 52 million passengers.
