(Phnom Penh): Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia Shaharuddin Onn stated that he has never received any negative feedback from Malaysians living, working, or doing business in Cambodia. Instead, he highlighted their consistent praise for the Kingdom’s investor-friendly laws, political stability, and well-developed infrastructure.

Malaysian ambassador to Cambodia paid a courtesy call on Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng on 13 May 2025.

In their meeting, Governor Sreng spoke about the capital’s rapid development and reaffirmed the long-standing, cooperative ties between Cambodia and Malaysia—interrupted only during the Khmer Rouge regime and re-established in 1991.

Governor Sreng emphasized Cambodia’s policy of religious harmony, noting that despite differences in faith, the country remains free of religious conflict or discrimination. He credited leaders past and present—including former Prime Minister and current Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen, and Prime Minister Hun Manet—for championing peaceful coexistence.

“Only those who have lived through war understand the true value of peace,” the governor said, reiterating the government’s dedication to preserving national stability.

For his part, the Malaysian ambassador also presented an invitation letter to Governor Khuong Sreng, inviting him to participate in a business conference to be hosted in Selangor this coming October.

Additionally, the ambassador shared Malaysia’s intention to organise a Malaysian exhibition along the riverside pedestrian area this August.

Governor Khuong Sreng welcomed the initiative and encouraged other embassies to consider organising similar exhibitions to showcase their products along the riverside pedestrian area.
