(Pursat): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed that safeguarding the nation’s territory requires strengthening national capacity, rather than succumbing to fear and remaining inactive.
The premier spoke on Saturday (May 17) during an inauguration ceremony of a new three-storey school building, along with other achievements, at Hun Sen Promaoy High School in Pursat Province.
“There should be awareness and concern regarding the loss of land from any source, but we must not fall into extreme or irrational fear. If we are concerned, we must strengthen ourselves. If we fear losing something, we must enhance our capabilities,” the premier underscored.
Samdech Thipadei stressed that if we fear the loss of something, we must remain vigilant and take proper care of it—meaning that we must continuously build our strength and pursue sustained development. The premier acknowledged that concern over territorial loss is natural, but it should never lead to inaction driven by fear.
In addition, Samdech Thipadei Manet drew a parallel between international and interpersonal relations, stating that people must engage and connect with others—no one can isolate themselves from society simply out of fear that others might infringe upon or take advantage of them.
