(Pursat): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the Royal Government has implemented concrete policies and measures aimed at national development by transforming former battlefields into zones of progress, while also working alongside the people to safeguard territorial integrity.
The premier spoke on Saturday (May 17) during an inauguration ceremony of a new three-storey school building, along with other achievements, at Hun Sen Promaoy High School in Pursat Province.
“Those who love the nation and cherish its territory—our 17 million citizens—share this spirit. But the work of the Royal Government goes beyond patriotic rhetoric. We implement real policies and take tangible action for national development, to transform our territory into a developed zone and jointly protect our land and borders,” the premier underscored.
The prime minister added that, under the “Win-win Policy” of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister and current President of the Cambodian People’s Party, areas once ravaged by conflict have now been turned into zones of development, with improved infrastructure and better living conditions. He cited Veal Veng district as a clear example—once a battlefield, it now stands as a symbol of peace and progress.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet added that while the newly inaugurated school building may resemble others elsewhere, its location in Veal Veng carries profound significance. Formerly an isolated war zone, it now serves as a centre for education and human resource development. He stressed that without the right policies—particularly the “Win-win Policy” and the leadership of the Cambodian People’s Party—Veal Veng would have remained a neglected and abandoned area.
