(Phnom Penh): Pich Chanmony, spouse of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Samdech Techo Youth Volunteer Doctors Association (TYDA), led a team of TYDA volunteer doctors on 18 May 2025 to conduct health checkups and provide medical treatment for infants and orphaned children who had been abandoned by their parents. These children are currently under the care of the Branch Centre and Rescue Centre, both located in Lech Wat Village, Sangkat Kamboul, Khan Kamboul, Phnom Penh.

During the outreach visit, Pich Chanmony warmly interacted with the children, inquiring about their well-being, and also took time to engage with the teachers, caregivers, and staff at both centres.

To further brighten the day, Pich Chanmony brought along a delicious meal for the children, including pizza, milk, snacks, and various beverages, creating a joyful and heartwarming atmosphere that was truly invaluable.

At the event, Phon Phalla, Advisor to the Branch Centre, emotionally recounted the history of the centre and shared its ongoing challenges in supporting the children. He expressed deep gratitude to the first lady for her generous and compassionate support, including the provision of food, educational materials, and financial aid, efforts that significantly alleviated the centre’s burdens. He especially thanked her for arranging the TYDA medical team’s visit, which brought essential healthcare services directly to the children and provided them with much-needed care, affection, and warmth.

Chat Thon, Director of the Hope for the Hopeless Rescue Organisation, also expressed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the children and staff. He thanked Pich Chanmony for her kindness, inclusive spirit, and unconditional love, emphasizing the rarity and value of such genuine compassion. He noted that the children and staff enjoyed delicious meals, rare treats, and free medical services, all of which delivered meaningful benefits to their well-being.

It is worth noting that the TYDA medical team provided the children at both centres with a comprehensive range of free healthcare services, including general health checkups, dental care, cardiovascular screenings, eye exams, skin disease treatment, ENT (ear, nose, and throat) care, blood tests, and other medical services.
