(Phnom Penh): The Ministry of Health, through an official letter addressed to directors of national hospitals and heads of provincial and municipal health departments, urged the public aged 12 and above to receive COVID19 vaccination. This call forms part of a preventive effort to maintain community immunity and curb the spread of COVID19 in 2025.
The Ministry’s letter highlighted that new transmissions of the COVID19 variant (JN.1 lineages of Omicron) have recently been detected. In response, and to strengthen community resistance and control the spread of the virus, the Ministry has instructed health authorities to promote COVID19 vaccinations every six months. The booster strategy specifically targets elderly individuals, people with chronic illnesses, and those with weakened immune systems.
The guidelines include:
1. Providing COVID19 vaccines on a routine basis at all public health facilities, including national hospitals and health centres.
2. Integrating COVID19 vaccinations into community-level health outreach services.
