(Kampong Speu): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet underlined that citizens in Cambodia enjoy full freedoms in a democratic society, speaking on Tuesday (May 20) at an inauguration ceremony of the Conch KT Cement Factory in Aural District, Kampong Speu Province.

Samdech Thipadei added that Cambodians have the right to travel freely, to live and earn a livelihood, to practice their religion, to access healthcare, and to pursue education. These are fundamental rights the Royal Government has upheld over the past 40 years and remains committed to protecting in the future.

Prime Minister Hun Manet underscored, "This is the freedom of the Cambodian people, the freedom to move and live without restriction. These are the real expressions of democratic rights and freedoms, not merely the right to speak into a microphone or make public statements.”

“True freedom includes the right to travel, to earn a living, to practice one’s religion, and to access healthcare and education. These are the rights the Royal Government has ensured over the past 40 years, and we will continue to do so. This is what it means to live in a democratic society,” he added.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei continued that citizens can now travel safely across the country thanks to improved and interconnected infrastructure. Unlike in the past, they no longer need to fear landmines that once posed a life-threatening risk during travel. This progress is a direct result of peace and development under the Royal Government’s leadership.
