(Sihanoukville): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed that Cambodia maintains a neutral stance and does not favour investors from any particular country, extending a warm welcome to investors from across the globe.

The premier spoke on Thursday (May 22) during his meeting with more than 30,000 workers in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone.

Samdech Thipadei reiterated Cambodia’s consistent position of impartiality regarding foreign investment, emphasising that the Kingdom welcomes investors from all nations, including China, the United States, and others—echoing his earlier public remarks on the matter.

“When the US and China engage in trade negotiations, some accuse the Cambodian government of siding with one or the other—whether it be with cabbage or beef. But as I previously stated in Kampot, whether it is cabbage, beef, shrimp, crab, anchovies, or fruit—Cambodia welcomes all, regardless of origin,” the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei continued, “Indeed, this Special Economic Zone was established through Cambodia–China cooperation, yet it is also home to factories and enterprises from the United States, France, Europe, and many other countries. This clearly reflects our inclusive approach to investment.”

Furthermore, Samdech Thipadei remarked that even global superpowers cannot afford to isolate one another completely, frequently shifting from tense negotiations to reconciliation. This reality, he said, demonstrates that no country can exist in total separation. Therefore, Cambodia has no choice but to maintain neutrality, prioritising national development by creating jobs and improving the livelihoods of its people.
