(Phnom Penh): On Friday (May 23), the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) issued an official announcement stating that the soft launch of Techo International Airport is scheduled for 9 September 2025, while the official inauguration ceremony will take place on 20 October 2025.

According to the announcement received by Fresh News, and based on the decision of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet dated 21 May 2025, the Royal Government has agreed in principle to the following:

- To designate 9 September 2025 as the official date for the commencement of operations at the 4F-class Techo International Airport.

- To designate 20 October 2025 as the date of the official inauguration ceremony, to be presided over by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.

The modern and expansive Techo International Airport, constructed on more than 2,600 hectares of land, is capable of accommodating large aircraft, including Airbus A380 and Boeing 747 models. In its first phase, the airport will have the capacity to handle up to 13 million passengers annually.

The USD1.5 billion airport project is a public-private partnership, in which the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation holds a 10 per cent share of the total investment.
