(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen affirmed that Cambodia aspires to maintain peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and development-oriented borders with all neighbouring countries.

Samdech Techo spoke on Thursday (May 29) in a special statement addressing the recent armed clash between Cambodian and Thai forces at the Emerald Triangle border area, Preah Vihear province.

“Cambodia continues to wish for the establishment of borders with all neighbouring countries that are based on peace, friendship, cooperation, and development,” Samdech Techo underscored.

At the same time, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed hope that the Thai government and leadership share Cambodia’s desire to strengthen good neighbourly relations.

He also extended warm greetings to all frontline troops and called upon the Red Cross in Preah Vihear province to provide assistance to civilians displaced by the conflict.

Furthermore, Samdech Techo urged Cambodian citizens to support the armed forces as a demonstration of national unity and solidarity in defending the nation’s sovereignty.

In his remarks, Samdech Techo Hun Sen appealed to the public to remain calm and trust the leadership of the Royal Government and the Cambodian Armed Forces, stressing that the current situation should be resolved through negotiation rather than armed confrontation. He cautioned people to remain vigilant against fake news intended to incite hostility or war between the two nations.
