(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen affirmed that although Prime Minister Hun Manet is currently abroad on an official visit, he remains actively engaged in monitoring the border situation due to his clear understanding of the geographical and military context.

Samdech Techo spoke on Thursday (May 29) in a special statement addressing the recent armed clash between Cambodian and Thai forces at the Emerald Triangle border area, Preah Vihear province.

“Even though the prime minister is currently overseas, in this digital and online era, he is able to command the armed forces at any time. Just yesterday, the prime minister was highly involved in issuing instructions to both the commander-in-chief and the army commander,” Samdech Techo underscored.

He added that the current prime minister of Cambodia possesses direct battlefield experience, having previously participated in armed clashes at the Ta Moan and Ta Krabey temples in Preah Vihear province. As a result, the prime minister is even more knowledgeable than Samdech Techo himself about the terrain and military operations in the area.

In his speech, Samdech Techo further noted that the recent clash on 28 May at the Emerald Triangle border occurred in a location he had personally visited in 2009.
