(Tokyo): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed that Japan remains a key economic partner of Cambodia, contributing significantly to both human capital development and the country's socio-economic infrastructure.

The premier spoke on Thursday (May 29) during Cambodia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo, Japan.

Samdech Thipadei emphasised that the forum reflected the depth of economic cooperation and the strength of bilateral relations between Cambodia and Japan, as well as a shared commitment to unlocking vast investment potential through this strategic partnership.

“Over the past seven decades, Cambodia and Japan have maintained long-standing diplomatic relations grounded in mutual understanding and trust, culminating in the establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023,” the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei expressed Cambodia’s profound appreciation for Japan’s vital role and continued support in the Kingdom’s peacebuilding process.

According to the premier, Japan’s assistance has played a crucial role in strengthening Cambodia’s human capital and developing key socio-economic infrastructure—making Japan an indispensable development partner.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet also extended heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Japan for its financial and technical assistance, particularly in supporting the modernisation and expansion of the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port into a regional logistics hub.
