(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on all Cambodians, regardless of political affiliation, to refrain from any actions that could undermine the morale of the armed forces.

The premier spoke on Monday (Jun. 2) during the inaugural joint congress of the National Assembly and Senate on social protection, the informal economy, and agriculture.

Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed that the Royal Government has sufficient capacity to provide for and support troops stationed along the border. However, he emphasized that public backing from citizens across all regions and sectors plays a vital role in strengthening the morale of the military. He also encouraged continued support for the armed forces.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "I continue to call on everyone to unite in uplifting the spirit of our armed forces. At the same time, I would like to once again appeal to some of our fellow Cambodians, regardless of political stance, not to engage in activities that may dampen the morale of our nation."

The premier continued, "This is a time for national unity, to prepare for the defence of our homeland and the protection of our territory. Most importantly, we must stand firmly behind our armed forces. Political discussions can take place at another time, but actions or remarks that negatively affect the spirit and resolve of our people should be avoided. This is not a moment for gaining political advantage through internal conflict. Rather, it is a moment for shared purpose, shared spirit, and shared resolve, because the true threat lies in the potential loss of our territory and the lives of our people."

Samdech Thipadei once again expressed his appreciation to citizens across the country for their ongoing support of the armed forces, through both material donations and moral encouragement. He called for continued efforts to uphold and strengthen this support.

Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed hope that both sides would work together toward a peaceful resolution of the disputes in these contested areas, and continue the process of border demarcation and boundary marker installation through technical cooperation and adherence to international law.

Samdech Thipadei reaffirmed that while Cambodia remains committed to resolving border issues through peaceful means, technical processes, and international law, it reserves the right to defend its territorial integrity by any means necessary, including the use of armed forces, in the event of any attempt to violate or seize Cambodian land through military aggression.
