(Phnom Penh): Amid heightened tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed that the Royal Government is fully capable of sustaining and supporting the armed forces stationed at the frontier. He added that public support from all sectors and regions remains a powerful source of morale for the troops.

The premier spoke on Monday (Jun. 2) during the inaugural joint congress of the National Assembly and Senate on social protection, the informal economy, and agriculture.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also disclosed that on 1 June 2025, he personally visited Cambodian military commanders and soldiers deployed along the border in Preah Vihear Province. He reiterated that while Cambodia is committed to resolving border disputes peacefully through technical mechanisms and legal frameworks, the Kingdom reserves the right to defend its territorial integrity by all necessary means—including the use of armed force—should there be any attempt to violate Cambodian sovereignty through military aggression.

The prime minister expressed deep gratitude for the strong and ongoing support from Cambodian citizens both within the country and abroad. He acknowledged their generous contributions in the form of donations, essential supplies, food, and words of encouragement shared across social media and other platforms—all of which significantly boost the morale of the troops stationed at the border.

“Let me clarify, the support we receive goes beyond just food and money. The government has already guaranteed those provisions. Minister Tea Seiha has been on the ground, and the Ministry of National Defence leadership has ensured that no soldier is left without. However, the additional public support—whether in goods, food, or heartfelt words—serves as a vital morale booster. It reminds our troops that the entire nation stands behind them as they fulfil their duty of defending our territory. This is a powerful message for all compatriots,” the premier underscored.

Additionally, the prime minister called on the public to maintain their support and solidarity to uplift the morale of Cambodian forces. He also urged certain Cambodian individuals—regardless of their political stance—not to engage in actions that could undermine national unity. He emphasised that now is the time for solidarity, with all Cambodians standing firmly behind the armed forces to protect the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity without compromise.
