(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen called on the public to closely monitor the evolving situation while remaining calm and continuing to show support and encouragement for Cambodian troops stationed at the frontline.

Samdech Techo spoke on Monday afternoon (Jun. 2) during the inaugural joint congress of the National Assembly and Senate.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen underscored, "We call on the Cambodian people, who have been attentively following the developments, not to panic. Please continue to support and encourage the troops on the frontline."

Samdech Techo further affirmed that the Royal Government and the Cambodian armed forces are aware that Thai troops have been reinforcing their positions. However, he stressed that while they may reinforce within their own territory, such activities must not encroach on Cambodian soil.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also expressed gratitude to the many generous individuals who have donated food, supplies, and financial support, as well as those who have visited the frontline to boost the morale of the troops stationed along the Cambodia–Thailand border.

It is noteworthy that the clash between Cambodian and Thai forces occurred on 28 May 2025, in Techo Morokot village, Morokot commune, Choam Khsan district, Preah Vihear province. Reports indicate that the incident was triggered when Thai troops opened fire on a long-established Cambodian military post. The attack resulted in the death of Cambodian soldier Suon Ron, aged 48, who held the rank of Warrant Officer.
