(Phnom Penh): Following reports that the Thai side is preparing to establish a trench near a disputed border area, Cambodian President of the Senate Hun Sen warned Thailand that while they are free to build within their own territory, they must not set up any structures on Cambodian land.
Samdech Techo spoke on Monday afternoon (Jun. 2) during the inaugural joint congress of the National Assembly and Senate.
"We have learned that they are building a trench [...] They may prepare within their own territory, but they must not come and build on my land—that is all," Samdech Techo underscored.
Alongside this message, Samdech Techo Hun Sen called on the Cambodian people to remain vigilant and closely monitor the situation without panic. He urged the public to continue showing support and encouragement for the troops stationed at the frontlines.
Samdech also expressed his sincere gratitude to the many generous donors who have brought gifts to soldiers within Cambodian territory—not only to boost morale but also to show solidarity and goodwill.
