(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen urged Cambodians to reject extremism, drawing a contrast with certain Thai groups in Bangkok influenced by Sondhi Limthongkul, former leader of the Yellow Shirt movement. Samdech Techo also addressed Jatuporn Promphan, a former Red Shirt co-leader, advising him to show greater respect—especially considering he once sought refuge in Cambodia.

Samdech Techo spoke on Monday (Jun. 16) in a special message.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen stated that Sondhi Limthongkul has long been an adversary of Cambodia, consistently treating Cambodian citizens as enemies from the outset until today.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen responded strongly to Sondhi Limthongkul’s provocative claim that Thailand should attack Cambodia, seize Angkor Wat, and use it as leverage to reclaim Preah Vihear Temple. “Cambodia is not a country that can be attacked easily,” he said. “You are seriously misjudging us.”

Addressing Jatuporn Promphan, a former Red Shirt leader who once sought refuge in Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen added: “Please show some restraint, brother. You once fled to Cambodia, and I welcomed you. I gave you food. I protected you. Now you’ve joined hands with Sondhi to attack the country that sheltered you. You know what Hun Sen is capable of—so be a little more respectful.”
