(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Ministry of National Defence issued a statement on latest developments along the Cambodia–Thailand border, affirming that the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces remain committed to resolving disputes through international law and peaceful means, while resolutely defending the Kingdom’s territorial integrity at all costs.

“Cambodia firmly upholds its commitment to peace and to resolving border issues with Thailand through the International Court of Justice (ICJ), particularly concerning the areas of Ta Moan Thom Temple, Ta Moan Tauch Temple, Ta Krabei Temple, and the Emerald Triangle area,” according to the statement seen by Fresh News on Tuesday (Jun. 17).

The statement continued, “In this context, Cambodia held a meeting of the Joint Border Commission (JBC) with the Thai side on 14–15 June 2025, during which both parties agreed to continue step-by-step discussions.”

"However, the statement also expressed regret over Thailand’s failure to uphold and implement the 2000 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU 2000). The Thai side is reported to have committed multiple violations, including drone surveillance flights, excavation activities, the deployment of heavy weaponry, and the construction of military infrastructure along the border areas in Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces—actions deemed a serious threat to peace.

In response to these developments, the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces reaffirmed their full support for the Royal Government of Cambodia in pursuing a resolution based on international law, with the hope that the border will ultimately become a zone of peace. Both the Cambodian military and the Cambodian people remain steadfast in their commitment to protecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity, regardless of the sacrifices required."
