(Phnom Penh): Prime Minister Hun Manet responded strongly to accusations against Cambodia regarding online gambling, stating that some of the very countries pointing fingers have their own safe havens for such activities but try to conceal them while singling out Cambodia.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Jun. 17) at the Closing of Extraordinary General Assembly of Cambodia Scouts in Phnom Penh.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that Cambodia has remained patient and refrained from responding to unjust accusations. However, he said, “Sometimes, when we stand up for ourselves, they claim we are unprofessional.”

The premier elaborated that many allegations, particularly around online gambling, are frequently directed at Cambodia, while the accusing countries overlook their own problems.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet further criticized those countries for accusing others of wrongdoing while trying to cover up their own shortcomings. “They label this country or that country as bad, but when it comes to their own, it is far from perfect. Yet they go out of their way to hide their flaws and shift blame onto others. Let’s be honest—people are aware of what is really going on,” he concluded.
