(Tbong Khmum): Cambodian Minister of National Defence, General Tea Seiha, made a public appeal to all Thai nationals residing in Cambodia to remain understanding and continue their business activities as usual. He added that the current issues between Cambodia and Thailand are strictly military matters.
The minister spoke on Friday (Jun. 20) on the occasion of the 48th Anniversary of the Day of Remembrance for the Journey to Overthrow the Pol Pot Genocidal Regime, and the 47th Founding Anniversary of the Kampuchea United Front for National Salvation.
General Tea Seiha also called upon the Cambodian public to refrain from any form of discrimination against Thai citizens.
General Tea Seiha stated: “I ask Thai entrepreneurs and investors in Cambodia to please remain patient. Cambodia has no intention to [discriminate] — I stress that this is a military matter, and it is something that both armed forces must continue to resolve together.”
He continued, Thai businesspeople currently operating in Cambodia should maintain continuity in their professional activities, as the Cambodian government and its people do not harbour any ill will toward Thai nationals residing in the country.
On the occasion, the defence minister further affirmed that the military tensions between the two nations must be resolved at the military level and do not involve or incite the public to engage in any form of ethnic discrimination.
