(Preah Vihear): Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen said that over the past two years, the youth-led government has worked diligently and succeeded in preserving the achievements of the previous generation.
Samdech Techo spoke on Thursday (Jun. 26) during his visit to extend well wishes and inspect the situation of Cambodian troops stationed along the Thai border.
Samdech Techo recalled a statement by Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Phoeurng Sackona, who once said to him: “Meeting a younger brother brings joy, but parting from a father brings hardship,” metaphorically referring to Prime Minister Hun Manet as the younger brother and Samdech Techo as the father.
“Two years have passed under the leadership of our new prime minister, deputy prime ministers, and ministers. That time has been enough to demonstrate that the youth-led government has worked tirelessly and effectively safeguarded the accomplishments of the previous generation. Most importantly, it has maintained peace, political stability, and sound governance, which are driving economic growth,” the premier underscored.
Samdech Techo further added, “This is precisely why I have come here, not to give orders, but simply to offer advice. There cannot be two prime ministers. Even though I am the father of the prime minister and hold the position of Senate president, which ranks second only to the King, power lies in the hands of the prime minister.”
