(Oddar Meanchey): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Senate, strongly condemned a Thai media outlet for falsely claiming he had dismissed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and assumed the role himself to prepare for an attack on Thailand.
Samdech Techo wrote on his social media on Thursday (Jun. 26) as follows:
“I am currently visiting troops, civil servants, and displaced citizens in Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear provinces. My presence is not to override the authority of the Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence, or Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. I came to boost morale and provide support to our armed forces who are defending national territory.
The military commanders refer to me as the ‘Senior Logistics General’. I am happy to help by providing additional supplies on top of what the Royal Government already offers. This role does not require any official appointment—it is simply a colloquial term.
A Thai media outlet had published misinformation claiming I had removed the Commander-in-Chief and appointed myself to lead the military in preparation for an assault on Thailand. To that, I say: if you want to act foolishly, then please be foolish on your own.
I am the second highest-ranking individual after the King. Is it necessary for me to assume the role of Commander-in-Chief myself? Even the position of Prime Minister, I have already relinquished. Let it end there. And please stop disrupting my Facebook page.”
