(Preah Vihear): Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen expressed profound sorrow and deep pain upon seeing pregnant women and persons with disabilities fleeing due to the Thai incursion into Cambodian territory. He added that his spouse was moved to tears upon witnessing these distressing scenes.

Samdech Techo spoke on Thursday (Jun. 26) during his meeting with citizens who had fled from the tense Cambodia–Thailand border areas in Preah Vihear province.

"Now even puerperae, pregnant women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities are fleeing here. Cambodian citizens do not wish to experience such a situation, and I believe Thai citizens feel the same. But this is caused by a small group of extremists who want to provoke such circumstances," Samdech Techo underscored.

Samdech Techo added, "Please accept the regards from my wife, the president of the Cambodian Red Cross. I would like to tell you frankly that it is heartbreaking to see her in tears at the dinner table. My wife is soft-hearted, and I am the same. When she sees images of refugees and the suffering of the poor, she cries. Her tears reflect the pain of our people".

On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen urged local residents in the frontline areas to dig trenches and take self-protective measures amid escalating tensions between Cambodian and Thai armed forces.
